The City of West Columbia recognizes the importance of the internet as an effective means of communicating with the public, especially those with disabilities. The City’s policy is to make information on its events, services and programs accessible to all visitors to the City’s website through better website design, taking in to account the uses of assistive technology such as screen readers and voice recognition software.

The City’s website designers and administrators will continue to evaluate emerging technologies and make changes as needed to improve accessibility. The City encourages feedback on ways to improve the display of information to site visitors, especially from those with disabilities. At least once a year, the City will enlist the aid of a disabled group or individuals to test the City’s website and evaluate its ease of accessibility.
