Sarah Mattern was born in West Columbia, SC, and has lived in District 7 all of her life. After graduating from Brookland-Cayce High School, she attended Columbia Southern University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S in Occupational Safety and Health. She also holds a certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business as a Loss Control Professional. She has worked as a safety professional for over 20 years with an emphasis on electrical safety.
She served on the West Columbia Planning Commission for three years before being elected to represent City Council District 7, encompassing the Saluda Gardens Neighborhood, a portion of Westover Acres, and the Riverbanks Botanical Gardens.
She is a lifetime/active member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and is an active member in the West Columbia community. You will find her in her yard or running the streets of our beautiful city.
