T-Rex

Thomas Humphries, Artist

The Dinosaur was exciting to make and was the first piece fashioned, which made me think more creatively on how to incorporate a way to transport the sculpture from within. Thomas Humphries is a local West Columbia sculptor who makes art out of various mediums, primarily recycled metals. His passion for recycling and welding comes together to create art. He obtains all of the metals during his daily travels, whether it be picking up scraps from parking lots, job sites or piles on the sides of the roads. He believes the message of recycling is very important in our society today and is proud that he can use his artwork to incorporate this message along with the beauty of the art itself. He states, "It's exciting to think that there are opportunities around this community where my art could be displayed for others’ enjoyment as well as to inspire others to pursue their passion for art."
