Brookland Beach Bash at West Columbia Riverwalk

By July 5, 2018Good News

Are you ready for a summer celebration?

The Brookland Beach Bash is Saturday beginning at noon. It goes on all day, ending at 10:30 p.m. It’s sponsored by Soda City and Palmetto Outdoor Center. It’s at the West Columbia Riverwalk Park and Amphitheater, 121 Alexander Rd.

“It’s a family-friendly event that gives us another opportunity to showcase our Riverwalk and take advantage of the river,” said West Columbia Mayor Bobby Horton. “I expect a first-class event from Michael Mayo of Palmetto Outdoor and Emile DeFelice of Soda City,” sponsors of the bash.

The Brookland Beach Bash features free admission and free parking at Capitol Plaza, and behind Terra on Meeting Street. The City of West Columbia is also a supporter of the Brookland Beach Bash.

“We’re bringing the beach, minus the sand,” said the Brookland Beach Bash promoters. Mayo said the event has more than one goal.

“It’s the kind of activity needed to not only attract tourism, but to encourage families to move to the Three Rivers region,” Mayo said. “We’re trying to coin the phrase “waterside recreation” as a means for relocation.” Mayo also gave more details.

“The Brookland Beach Bash offers a variety of activities, on and off the water, promoting a welcoming space for everyone,” said Mayo. “We are promoting cultural diversity. I’m very big about creating a welcoming space, without barriers. All you have to do is wear your life jacket, and it’s safe for anyone.”
