City Works with Dominion for Improved Street Lighting and Cost Savings

By May 16, 2022Headlines

West Columbia, SC (May 16, 2022, at 4:30 PM) – The City of West Columbia worked with Dominion Energy to improve street lighting and save taxpayer dollars. Beginning Monday, May 16, 2022, Dominion Energy will be replacing all publicly owned street lights with LED lights. This swap is estimated to save approximately $9,000 per year on the City’s lighting bill and completed over the next few months. The upgraded lights will provide better lighting quality, fewer shadows, and a color impact closer to daylight. There are no upfront costs for the replacements and the communications node will automatically notify Dominion of failure with future capabilities of dimming and on/off controls.

Mayor Tem Miles stated, “We look forward to shining a new light on all the great things we have going on in West Columbia. We are excited for the monetary savings and overall energy consumption.”
