Following the unveiling, the public is invited to attend the State Street Friday Art Crawl from 6 pm – 8 pm hosted by State Street Shopping.

The City of West Columbia in conjunction with the West Columbia Beautification Foundation is inviting the community to the unveiling of the Art on State project Friday, June 3rd, 2016 at 5 pm. The project is located at 423 Meeting Street, behind Terra in the parking lot at the corner of State and Meeting Streets. The Foundation received a grant from the Central Carolina Community Foundation in 2015 to create beautiful spaces in West Columbia. Hanging baskets have been installed and flowers and shrubs have been planted along State and Meeting Streets. In the parking lot behind State and Meeting Streets, the dumpster disaster has been corralled and cleaned up. An interactive public art exhibit incorporating a mural and frames are being installed and new flowers, bushes, and trees are being planted all in preparation for the grand unveiling of the See Me On State project on June 3, 2016 at 5pm. Artist Colleen Otte created the exhibit, which incorporates art and frames inviting people to document their visit and share their photos with friends and the community. “We’re doing something you can’t do in an art museum. We’re pulling the frame off the wall and giving you the opportunity to get into the art, “ said Ms. Otte. Mural Artist BA Hohman collaborated on the project to paint the first mural on the wall to serve as the background for the pictures. Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens designed the landscaping for the project, and the Senior Metal Working Class at Brookland Cayce High School forged the signs for the exhibit. “We want to make West Columbia a destination spot. After dining or while shopping on State and Meeting Streets, come see the collaborative art project, take your picture, and post it on social media with the hash tags #artonstate #wcolasc”, said Public Information Officer Anna Huffman.
