Portions of Augusta Road in West Columbia Closed Due to Vehicle Fire
The West Columbia Fire Department is fighting a vehicle fire in the 1300 block of Augusta Road (U.S. Hwy. 1) in West Columbia. West Columbia emergency personnel have responded to a vehicle fire involving a privately owned sanitation truck. The West Columbia Police Department has closed Augusta Road from 12th Street to S. Parson Street while crews work to extinguish the fire. Motorist and residents are asked to avoid the area until the road is reopened, which may take several hours. The media will be notified when the roads are clear for traffic.
