The Home Depot Foundation Awards $5,000 Grant to West Columbia Fire Department for Disabled Citizens’ Home Repairs

The Home Depot Foundation has awarded a $5,000 Community Impact Grant to the City of West Columbia Fire Department to provide support for home repairs for disabled citizens. The Fire Department in partnership with local volunteer group, Radius Church – West Columbia, will utilize the funds to construct five (5) handicap access ramps for disabled citizens in the City of West Columbia community. The City is striving to award the ramps to disabled veterans in need. All necessary building materials will be purchased through The Home Depot and volunteers will construct the ramps.

Grants Administrator Tara Greenwood stated, “We are excited to receive the grant and look forward to working in the community! The City will be developing a system to select which homes will be eligible for the grant implementation”.

The Home Depot Foundation and Team Depot, the 300,000-strong army of associate volunteers, works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families and aid communities affected by natural disasters. Through Team Depot, thousands of associates dedicate time and talents to these efforts in the communities where they live and work.
