West Columbia City Hall to Close at 2 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 Due to Forecasted Severe Weather

West Columbia (Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 1:10 PM) – The City of West Columbia will be closing City Hall at 2 PM today due to the threat of severe weather forecasted by the National Weather Service and local news agencies and heading towards the Midlands. The City has been informed in a National Weather Service briefing that the most likely time for severe weather, including wind gusts to 80 mph, large hail, and tornadoes, is mid-afternoon through mid-evening. City Hall will close today at 2 PM to minimize the likelihood that employees, citizens, and customers will be on the road when the forecasted severe weather impacts the Midlands. City Hall will reopen tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM and resume normal business hours. Personnel essential to providing services during the storm, including police, fire, utility, and public works personnel, will be on hand to assist during this time. In case of emergency, call 911. If you need to reach the police department for a non-emergency or call to report issues with West Columbia water or sewer service, please call 803-794-0721.
