(West Columbia, S.C.) – In a joint effort between the West Columbia police department and Bilo, multiple families from the community will have a better Christmas.

20 families were selected to participate in this program to ensure an enjoyable holiday.

There was an overwhelming response from people in the community and we received more than expected. Monetary donations were received from citizens, homeowners associations, and churches in the West Columbia area. The officers purchased 8 buggies full of food which totaled $1300.00 for these families.

In addition to providing a suitable holiday meal, food was provided for the additional days children would be out of school.

Chief Dennis Tyndall stated” I would like to thank all the individuals and groups that donated to this worthy cause. I would also like to thank the West Columbia Community Action Team for their dedication to this endeavor.”

For additional information contact Lieutenant John Norman at 803-936-6280.
