West Columbia’s Director of Planning and Zoning Appointed President-Elect of SCAPA

West Columbia, SC (April 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM) — The City of West Columbia’s Director of Planning and Zoning Wayne E. Shuler has been appointed as the South Carolina American Planning Association’s (SCAPA) President-Elect. Wayne’s primary responsibility will be to plan the association’s three conferences held annually focusing on the recruitment of speakers from around the country.

Regarding his appointment, Wayne Shuler said, “I am humbled and excited to have been selected as the next President-Elect for SCAPA. Over the past twenty years, SCAPA has played a significant role in my professional life and it is an honor to serve the organization and its members.”

SCAPA is the leading organization and resource for planning activities in South Carolina, with an active and growing membership of nearly 500 individuals. The diverse membership consists of professional planners (public, private, and academic), elected and appointed officials, building officials, neighborhood group leaders, urban designers, economists, and students. SCAPA is organized to advance the art and science of planning and to foster the activity of planning – physical, environmental, economic, and social – in South Carolina. The objective of SCAPA is to encourage planning that will contribute to the public well-being by developing communities and environments that meet the diverse needs of South Carolina communities.
