West Columbia, SC (February 13, 2020, at 9:13 AM) – The City of West Columbia is temporarily closing Norfolk Street, between State Street and Carpenter Street, for re-paving, beginning Monday, February 17, 2020. The contractors will have flagmen present to allow for local traffic only to those residents on Norfolk Street. The expected completion of the re-pavement of Norfolk Street is Saturday, February 22, 2020. The public is encouraged to find alternate routes for the duration.

Mayor Tem Miles said, “This is the first of many road improvements inside the Mill Village. The work is greatly needed and we look forward to the improvement that it will bring our community.”

“This marks the beginning of much-needed improvements to the roads in the Mill Village, making it less hazardous for vehicles and also making the area more aesthetically pleasing. The infrastructure improvements will positively impact our historic mill village neighborhood as well as the surrounding communities,” said Councilman Joseph Dickey.
