West Columbia, SC (April 25, 2017 at 10:05 AM) – The groundbreaking for the first City of West Columbia Community Garden took place behind City Hall on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, 2017. The project was funded by the PalmettoPride – Community Pride Grant. One citizen, Bruce Heimburger (pictured), brought tomato plants from home to plant and share. Mr. Heimburger said, “I love gardening and I love to see the community come together for something that is healthy and worthwhile.” The garden is free and open to the public to plant, tend, and harvest.
