West Columbia Welcomes Cyclists with Three Bicycle Repair Stations

West Columbia, SC (July 5, 2018 at 4:30 PM) – The City of West Columbia has completed the installation of the three bicycle repair stations located in the City. The stations are part of a project with EngenuitySC’s What’s Next Midlands and the Cola Town Bike Collective to create biking connectivity between all areas of the Midlands.

The bicycle repair stations can be found in West Columbia at the following locations:
1. Reeves Park – West Columbia Community Center – 754 B Avenue, West Columbia
2. Moffatt Street Entrance to the Riverwalk – 100 Riverside Drive, West Columbia
3. West Columbia Riverwalk Park and Amphitheater – 109 Alexander Road, West Columbia

Mayor Pro-Tem Tem Miles said, “We have worked for years to create pedestrian and bicycle accessibility in the City. We are very happy that SCDOT has approved the installation of the bicycle pathway on B Avenue from State Street to 12th Street and with the addition of the pathway and the repair stations, the ability to enjoy West Columbia on a bike will greatly be improved.” The anticipated completion date of the B Avenue Bike Pathway is December of 2018.

Each stand includes tire pumps and small repair tools. The bicycle repair stand project combined investor donations with support from local governments, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to fund ten repair stands. The project is supported by many local organizations and businesses, including the City of West Columbia, Richland Library, City Center Partnership, House of Raeford, Cycle Center, Cason Development, Circa Barbershop, Indah Coffee, and The War Mouth.
